In this blog, I will be talking about what’s new in Windows 10 2004 version. Microsoft has released Windows 10 2004 version which comes up with lots of new features. The version is also known as Windows 10 May 2020 Update. Microsoft releases Windows 10 version twice a year, the previous 4 versions were 1703, 1709, 1903, 1909. Hence, expected version was 2003, but because of the delays caused, the version name was made as 2004. Following naming convention is used for Windows 10 version yymm, ie. 2020 year and 04 month.
New features in Windows 10 May 2020 Update
Windows Hello – Make your device passwordless
Under Sign-in options, you have now option to enable passwordless sign-in for Microsoft accounts.
Virtual Desktops
You can now rename virtual desktops.
Bluetooth Paring made easy
Bluetooth pairing now shows notification at bottom right while connecting, hence connecting a device using Bluetooth is very convenient process.
Task Manager
There are new items added to task manager:
- Disk type info – You can see the type of disk under it ie. HDD,SSD etc. This information is available under Task Manager’s performance tab.
- GPU Temperature – This information is available under performance tab.
Reset this PC
“Reset this PC” option includes Cloud download option. To get this option follow:
- Launch “Reset this PC” option from start menu by typing through keyboard.
- Click on Get Started, and choose any option of your choice keep my files / Remove everything.
- Under next page, select Cloud download option
- Under Additional settings, click on Change Settings and you will be able to see “Download and reinstall Windows” option selected as yes.
New features with Edge browser
There are lots of new features included with Edge browser such as:
- Improvements to the Microsoft Edge Add-ons site make searching and finding extensions easier
- New Pinterest integration
- New syncing and customization options for IT professionals
- Data security gets a boost with Windows Information Protection
- Easily move between work and personal profiles
- Microsoft Search in Bing puts your work results all in one place

Cortana
Cortana has been updated and enhanced with lots of new features
Chat-based UI gives the ability to interact with Cortana using type or spoken natural language. And much more features included with in.
Windows Search
Making sense of search : Lots of improvement has been made for searching your files and folders on the disk. The search capability not only searches for the files but also searches the content within the file. File search option is used for File explorer, Outlook, Timeline and many other UWPs. All this capability is done through a service “Windows Search” which is a recommended service to be running, though it requires disk space and processing power to do indexing.
Adding value with Enhanced mode
By default search capability is limited to “Classic”, which means search only a set of folders such as My documents, pictures, users, music, outlook etc.
You can select Enhanced option which can search the entire PC

New tablet experience is available with this version. This new experience allows users entering tablet posture to stay in the familiar desktop experience without interruption, plus a few key touch improvements:
