In case you don’t want to use bing.com as default search engine, you can change the search engine on edge to point it to google.com or any other available search engine.
Below mentioned method is applicable for Edge browser on Windows 10 as well as Windows 11.
How to change default search engine on edge
Open edge browser, on top right hand corner you will see 3 dots which represents Settings and more, click on it and select Settings.
On right Pane, select Privacy, search, and services, under right pane scroll down until you see Address bar and search, select it.
You will see Search engine used in the address bar showing following options:
- Bing (Recommended, default)
- Yahoo!7
- DuckDuckGo
Select the search engine of your choice, lets select Google and that’s it you are ready to go with next search on address bar of the edge browser and will directly take you search results displayed on google page.
There is an advance option available to Manage search engines, click on it. You will be able to see all Search engine listed here along with the appropriate URL paths which is used in the background when you try searching for the content on address bar. For normal users this option is not required until unless there is a specific requirement for that, hence I would not recommend this for everyone.
Incase you wanted to use any other search engine which is not listed here, you can add it through this section. The important rule here is to remember is: you must know the complete URL path under URL with %s in place of query.
